on this SN8 wouldn't it use a separate fuel tank for landing that had the proper pressure regardless ship's maneuver?

Could a modified cargo starship be used to return the Hubble space telescope to earth? It’s well with its launch payload capabilities but I wonder if it could land with a load like that it would be a great end to the legendary telescope if it could be put on display above one of the space shuttle’s with some of the images it has captured being displayed

What will the Position of the Fins on the Starship be during it's launch phase? Just as we see them most of the time in a folded back position, fully opened, or will they assist in steering? ....
Alvian Choiri Apriliansyah
Alvian Choiri Apriliansyah 4 muaj më parë
Austin Meyer from X-Plane Starship (he uses a real physics sim) tells that the fins will be 45° dihedral so it will flip with belly on top after engine shutdown, and pointed towards the ocean obv for safety reasons, then glide back to the landing pad

I'm going to speculate and say, the earlier firings of the hoppers had large chunks of concrete that flew into the air. I think they then started coating it with martyte, and now that's sending stuff everywhere with every static fire. Or do people think it was always coated in martyte?

If y'all are using the Ursa Mini Pro by chance, you should under-expose it, because nearly ⅔ of the dynamic range is in the shadows, which means the highlights tend to clip very easily (you can see it pronounced in the close-up of the flamey end). Great video, thanks!

Alvian Choiri Apriliansyah

@ChrisUK27 They will install a water-cooled steel pipes underneath after the flight. The armor surely & hopefully be enough for next week
ChrisUK27
ChrisUK27 4 muaj më parë
@Alvian Choiri Apriliansyah They are now apparently which means they either dropped the requirement and refitted the kit or came up with a quick fix. That still doesn’t stop the FOD from smashing through something equally critical. I hope they fix it and get it flying but it’ll be annoying if it fails because of something they’re aware of and are driven by schedule pressure.

Multiple Raptors against the launchpad will create supersonic updrafts between engines. This will increase the debris quantity and size and velocity of debris impacting the engines. And what’s more, the circular pattern of updrafts turning sideways and being drawn back down pulled by the exhaust will make that debris hit the engines from crazy side angles. Now increase the debris damage problem by 794 times on top of that. Debris from each of 28 raptors have 28 chances to damage each of the 28 engines. 28 times 28 or 794 times more likely for damage compared to a single engine test. And the static fire test is only a fraction of the time compared to a launch. Bottom line is any launch debris in a superheavy launch is unacceptable and can easily make the whole rocket blowup on the launch pad.
Alvian Choiri Apriliansyah
Alvian Choiri Apriliansyah 4 muaj më parë
For Starship it will have to be able to land on unimproved surfaces on another world, so they armored toe avionics For Super Heavy tho, yes it had much more engines & won't land & takeoff from unimproved surfaces, so it will need a (water-cooled) diverter on the Orbital Launch Pad

hi Everyday Astronaut really great channel, here's a quick Question could the concrete floor of the launch pad be covered with stainless sheets and covered all over with heat shield tiles and heat shield foam like the entry heatshield side of the starship, and the high heat shield foam of the sun space mission heatshield as concrete and flame heat don't like each other if you build a bonfire on a concrete driveway or area the concrete explodes and cracks so a barrier needs to go between the rocket flames and concrete launch pad imho p.s. I know it's expensive but worth it
